Don't let it bug you. People who talk trash about others are ignorant and that's where they will end at life. There's nothing for them up ahead, unless, of course, they turn to God and open up their minds and hearts just a little bit to the wonders of this world that came from His Excellency.
Just do what Jesus did. Look up to the Big Man and say, "God forgive them for they know not what they do." And walk away.

church of today |
|
the wall posts about the church of today has made me think a lot about it and where i stand on it, so ill try and explain...
i think it is essential for christians to go to church for fellowship but more importantly teaching. having teaching is really important for understanding. imagine if church didnt exists and we spent all our time showing people to Christ- people would be like "Awesome! Jesus is my lord and saviour!!...but now what do i do?" and through tough times or difficult situations in their life they would need guidance from sound teaching and without that they might fall away.
however, i also think that there are to many people in the church (this is not talking about SP specifically) who are so wrapped up in it that they never break out of comfort zones and reach out to people that dont know jesus. i have found that this can have one of two results (infact always one, possibly two as well)
1) these people are directly disobeying Gods command
2) people are so wrapped up in church and the people that attend church that they dont know any non-christians and so cant talk to people regularly about the gospel. in a small number of cases i have found that these christians then tend to look down on people which is exactly what jesus had a go at the religious people of his day about!
so as i see it church is not manditory to being a Christian, going to church in itself doesnt make you closer to God/more holy but living out the teaching, living the life jesus wants us to lead is what we should be doing! not locking ourselves away so we cant get hurt but reaching out to the darkest places showing the love of Christ and spreading his wonderful message. so i agree with conk, the church of today day needs to be revitalised with the excitement and passion of what we believe, as the early evanglists did (and praise God they did otherwise we may never have heard the gospel), but i also agree with matt that Jesus also wants us to learn about him more so we can live a life that glorifies him more, have good fellowship with other believers, worship together, pray together (says in the bible how awesome our prayers are when two or more of us meet and pray together) and pray for each other.
peoples thoughts?
